This was my first time covering a fight in 2025 and the first ProBoxTv card that Ring Gang Radio ever got credentialed for so I anticipated a good night of action. I arrived a little early and soaked up the atmosphere. There was no traffic and the parking wasn’t difficult. I haven’t been to the War Memorial Auditorium in almost 20 years so I was interested on how they would set it up for a boxing event. I was pleasantly surprised with the layout and proceeded to sit and watch some competitive boxing.
Jayson Velez vs Claudio Marrero (Lightweights/135lbs)
Round 1. Both felt each other out for the 1st thirty seconds before exchanging body shots. Marrero doubled up on the hooks to the body and the to the head and even staggered Velez at one point, Good action round.
Round 2. Claudio forces Jayson to the ropes early with hard body shots. Jayson lands some counters. Both trade in the middle of the ring. Claudio seems to slightly get the better of the exchange.
Round 3. Both exchange some more, but Claudio is able to press forward more. He hurts Jayson again and pummels him on the ropes. Jayson fires back and they trade again. Claudio dominated this round.
Round 4. Marrero hurts Velez again with a straight left to the body. He beats him up on the ropes again.
Round 5. Marrero drops Velez with a liver shot at the end of the round. He constantly got the better of the exchanges. He also landed two big clean uppercuts on Velez. The end seems to be getting near.
Round 6. Marrero stops Velez against the ropes with a 40 punch flurry. Great performance from Claudio Marrero.
Carlos Velez Colondres vs Inu Matelau (Super Welterweights/154lbs)
Round 1. Inu drops Carlos early with a series of overhand rights. He drops him one more time for good measure. Carlos stands up, but he isn’t all there so the ref stops it by TKO
KJ Waialae vs Rashad Bowens (Super Welterweights/154lbs)
Round 1. Bowens started out boxing and pot shotting KJ until KJ landed a good body shot that opened up Bowens for more pressure. KJ took this round.
Round 2. KJ increases the pressure and outworks Bowens for the majority of the round.
Round 3. KJ repeatedly hurts Bowens with body and head shots. He forces a ref stoppage during an exchange where Bowen was getting the worse of it.
Onyx Sanchez-Medina vs Francois Scarboro Jr (Super Featherweights/126lbs)
Round 1. Round starts off slow with both feeling each other out. Scarboro was pressuring and going to the body while Onyx is jabbing and circling. Scarboro explodes with hard overhand right and left hook combo that sends Onyx staggering into the ropes before hitting the canvas. Onyx gets up, but is still clearly out of it, so the ref stops it. Impressive performance from Scarboro Jr.
Dante Benjamin vs Money Powell IV (Light Heavyweight/175lbs)
Round 1. Both boxing behind the jab. Benjamin seemed to dictate the pace more with a little more activity. Close round. Powell landed a few jabs. Benjamin nicked a close round
Round 2. Both boxers are still boxing cautious behind the jab. Dante seems to be a half step ahead and counters some of Powells aggression. This is another round where neither fighter is selling out.
Round 3. This round heated up some. Both boxers are throwing more, but still haven’t found each other cleanly due to each other’s underrated defense. They almost take turns with the aggression.
Round 4. Powell seems to find a home for his offense thru sheer pressure. He forces the retreating Benjamin to stand his ground a few times and counter.
Round 5. Benjamin takes over with the aggression. He’s able to slow down Powell’s pressure with hard one two combinations.
Round 6. Benjamin seems to be in control now and boxes in circles while sitting down on a few shots here and there to keep Powell honest. Powell is still pressuring.
Round 7. Powell steps up his aggression and lands some good body punches. Benjamin lands some solid jabs, but is still fighting behind Powell’s aggression. Close round, but Powell edged it.
Round 8. A lot of turn taking with the offense in this round. Benjamin takes it off of ring generalship although it was another close round.
Dante Benjamin wins a Unanimous Decision. He won, but it was close and neither guy sold out with their respect. Too much respect was shown.
Tsendbaatar Erdenebat vs Abraham Montoya (Super Featherweights 135lbs)
Round 1. This was a very high paced round. Erdenebat sticking and moving and picking apart a charging Montoya. Erdenebat lands a few solid counter hooks that gets the crowd’s attention.
Round 2. This is another high paced round full of violent exchanges. Montoya gets Eredenebat on the ropes a few times. This round was closer than the 1st round.
Round 3. This is a great round full of action. Montoya won the majority of the round with just pure offense, but Eredenebat comes back stunning him with huge counter hooks.
Round 4. Erdenebat takes back control with this round by countering Montoya with more big hooks. Montoya is rocked a few times, but still pressures relentlessly.
Round 5. Erdenebat continues to move and counter. He lands some good body shots while Montoya continues to pressure him. Montoya is game, but he’s eating punches in the process.
Round 6. Montoya gets more aggressive with the chasing and starts landing more right hands on Erdenebat. Both exchange hard shots, but Montoya seems to control the round more although Erdenebat lands some good counter punches.
Round 7. Both boxers decide to slow the pace down and box more. Erdenebat eventually takes control again and starts pushing Montoya back with his boxing and hard counters.
Round 8. The pace picks back up again during this round. Every time Montoya gets successful with his offense, Erdenebat explodes with aggression. He constantly runs Montoya into big shots this round.
Round 9. Montoya is back to chasing Erdenebat with more pressure. Both land good shots, but Erdenebat is more selective with his punches.
Round 10. Erdenebat controls this round by landing huge hooks. He pushes Montoya back and makes him give ground for most of the round. Very entertaining fight.
Erdenebat wins a Unanimous Decision
Main Event Franciso Daniel Veron vs Roiman Villa (Super Welterweights/154lbs)
Round 1. Veron boxes aggressively and keeps Villa at the end of his jab and right cross. He also mixes up some hard left hooks to the body as well.
Round 2. Veron repeats the 1st round while Villa tries to keep up. He keeps stalking and lands a few shots, but Veron is doing most of the heavy lifting during the round.
Round 3. Villa steps up his aggression and is able to pressure Veron to the ropes with combinations. Villa forces the action and gets the better of the exchanges. He’s officially in the fight now.
Round 4. Villa is relentless now with the pressure. Veron is struggling to keep Villa at a distance . He’s now getting outworked in spots by Villa. This was a close round
Round 5. Veron starts pumping the jab again takes back control. Villa is swinging and missing badly. Veron cloes out the round by landing a big right hand.
Round 6. Both trade more in this round. Both also manage to smother some of their offense. Veron lands some heat towards the end of the round. This round was close.
Round 7. Veron takes control again and lands some good one twos. He even rocks Villa once. Villa still game, but not as effective as before.
Round 8. Veron is boxing more comfortably, but still not enough to slow down Villa who is still pressuring. Both land hard shots. Villa has some moments the ropes. This round was much closer than the previous one.
Round 9. Veron is moving more and Villa is pressuring more. Veron is pivoting out of danger and countering effectively. Villa continues to come forward and throw heat. Veron lands a double left hook at the end of the round to drop Villa hard.
Round 10. Veron boxes aggressively throwing more heat with both hands. He lands a nasty left uppercut in the middle of the round. Villa is still trying to win. Both exchange to the end. Great action fight.
Veron wins a Unanimous Decision
Devario Hauser vs Daniel Raymond Ramirez (Super Middleweights/168lbs)
Round 1. Ramirez boxes and scores a knockdown early. He attempts to finish off his hurt opponent by dropping him again in the corner to stop him for good.
There’s one more prospect fight, but I leave in the middle of it. From the crowd’s reaction I can tell an early stoppage was scored. All is well on a Friday night. ProBox Tv came to Fort Lauderdale and put on a hell of a show with knockouts and brutally violent exchanges. As a boxing fan, what more could you ask for?
