This fight with Glen Tapia, a then hot prospect, was Kirkland in the odd role of opponent. But Kirkland who had newly reunited with Ann Wolfe had other plans. Point blank it was a brutal fight and a beatdown culminating with a finish that left Tapia out on his feet in Steve Smoger's arms. Glen Tapia had to go to the trauma unit that night.
